hint.apic.0.disabled="1"


To get the installer working, choose option #6 at boot time, and type set hint.apic.0.disabled="1" and then boot. Not doing this (in my case at least) something gets messed up and causes an interrupt storm, and the system locks within seconds of being fully booted, if you're lucky to get that far.
